Brooke Bognanni

Brooke Bognanni

Brooke Bognanni is a graduate of Friends School, Loyola College, and Loyola Graduate School and holds BAs in writing and psychology and a master's degree in writing. Named Who's Who Among America's Teachers, she is a member of the AWP, has taught at Loyola College, and is an assistant professor of English at the Community College of Baltimore County where she also teaches creative writing and speech. A painter, speaker, voice-over announcer, vocal coach, television host, and board president, she prides herself most on being a poet. A passionate learner and teacher whose lesson extends beyond the classroom, she splits her time between Baltimore and the Eastern Shore of Maryland, where she often finds inspiration.

Book Summation:

Morning Glories & Other Poems, an elegant, reflective collection where the process of writing becomes spiritual--a meditation for which the purpose varies; often it is about the natural cycle of the things of this earth, and about saying good-bye. The book, in turn, becomes a marker of epiphanal self-discovery. The poems in Morning Glories possess a gracefulness, like the flower itself, taking on their own life, and illuminate contemplative issues germane to all of humankind: growth, morality, choices, love, and ultimately, the elegy. Brooke's poems, like lessons, show us that there is something valuable learned from observing our own life's garden, "the artful irises, daffodils, violets, poppies," and especially the Morning Glories.

The book, in turn, becomes a marker of epiphanal self-discovery. Brooke’s poems, like lessons, show us that there is something valuable learned from observing our own life’s garden—the artful Irises, Daffodils, Violets, Poppies, and especially the Morning Glories.
