Red Hen Press is proud to confer four annual literary awards: the Benjamin Saltman Poetry Award for $3,000, a four week PLAYA Residency, and the publication of a full manuscript; the Red Hen Press Fiction Award; and the Red Hen Press Nonfiction Award, each for $1000 and publication; and introducing in 2017, the Red Hen Press Women’s Prose Prize for $1000, a Storyknife residency in Homer, Alaska, and publication of a full length manuscript by Red Hen Press.

Additionally, Red Hen Press is pleased to announce four new bi-annual awards from the Los Angeles Review! The new contests are: the Short Fiction Award, with fall judge Amy Hassinger; the Flash Fiction Award, with fall judge Brian Doyle; the Creative Nonfiction Award, with fall judge Carol Becker; and the Poetry Award, with fall judge Julie Marie Wade. A prize of $1,000 and publication in the Los Angeles Review will be given to four authors each season for exceptional writing in each genre.
