Red Hen Press is proud to confer six annual literary awards: the Benjamin Saltman Poetry Award for $3,000, a four-week PLAYA Residency, and the publication of a full manuscript; the Quill Prose Award, the Red Hen Press Fiction Award, the Red Hen Press Nonfiction Award, and the Red Hen Press Women’s Prose Prize, each for $1000 and publication; and introducing in 2018, the Red Hen Press Novella Award for $1000, and publication by Red Hen Press.

Additionally, Red Hen Press is pleased to announce four annual awards from the Los Angeles Review! The new contests are: the Fiction Award, judged by Doug Lawson; the Flash Fiction Award, judged by Ron Koertge; the Creative Nonfiction Award, judged by Sarah Cannon; and the Poetry Award, judged by Douglas Manuel. A prize of $1,000 and publication in the Los Angeles Review will be given to four authors each season for exceptional writing in each genre.
