Soledad Caballero is Professor of English and co-chair of the Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies Program at Allegheny College. She is a Macondo fellow\, a CantoMundo fellow\, has been nominated for three Pushcart Prizes\, has been a finalist for the Missouri Review’s Jeffry E. Smith poetry prize\, a finalist for the Lucille Medwick Memorial Award\, was winner of the 2019 Joy Harjo poetry contest sponsored by Cutthroat: A Journal of the Arts\, and winner of SWWIM’s SWWIM-For-the-Fun-of-It contest. \nCeleste Gainey is the author of the poetry collection\, the GAFFER\, cited by O\, The Oprah Magazine as one of “8 New Books of Poetry to Savor” in 2015. Her chapbook\, In the land of speculation & seismography\, was runner-up for the prestigious Robin Becker Prize. She has been a Hedgebrook Writer in Residence as well as a presenting poet at the Geraldine R. Dodge Poetry Festival and is currently the inaugural City Of Asylum’s Poet Laureate for Allegheny County. \nSarah Williams-Devereux is a poet and teacher of writing. Her poetry appears in the journals F(r)ictionLog\, Snapdragon: A Journal of Art & Healing\, Sampsonia Way Magazine\, and Pittsburgh City Paper; in the anthologies Show Us Your Papers\, Is It Hot in Here or Is It Just Me? Women Over 40 Write on Aging\, Nasty Women & Bad Hombres\, and Pittsburgh Love Stories; and on WESA-FM’s Prosody. She teaches poetry for the Madwomen in the Attic program at Carlow University and is the series editor for the annual Madwomen anthology\, Voices from the Attic. \nCameron Barnett holds an MFA from the University of Pittsburgh and teaches middle school English. He’s an editor for Pittsburgh Poetry Journal\, and winner of the 2019 Carol R. Brown Creative Achievement Award for Emerging Artist. His recent work has appeared in The Florida Review\, The Minnesota Review\, Rattle\, and IDK Magazine. His first collection\, The Drowning Boy’s Guide to Water was a finalist for an NAACP Image Award.

DESCRIPTION:Sven Birkerts is the co-editor of AGNI\, and the former director of the Bennington Writing Seminars. He is the author of eleven books\, including The Gutenberg Elegies\, The Art of Time in Memoir\, and\, most recently\, Speak\, Memory (part of the Bookmarked series from Ig Publishing). \nMartha Cooley’s most recent novel is Buy Me Love. Her novel The Archivist was a national bestseller. She is also the author of the novel Thirty-Three Swoons and a memoir\, Guesswork. She co-translated Antonio Tabucchi’s story collection Time Ages in a Hurry. Her essays\, short fiction\, and co-translations have appeared in the Los Angeles Review of Books and numerous leading literary journals. She directs the MFA in Creative Writing at Adelphi University\, where she is a Professor of English. Prior to Adelphi\, she taught for fifteen years in the Bennington Writing Seminars. SUMMARY:Judy Temes with Tina Schumann\, Girl Left Behind
DESCRIPTION:In Hungary\, one summer’s night in 1969\, Judy Temes’ family packed the car for\, what was supposed to be\, a vacation to Vienna. Judy’s parents took her 12-year-old brother and left her behind. She was five-years-old and was given to her grandmother. \nHer family wasn’t taking a vacation. They were escaping Hungary’s totalitarian regime. Her father\, a doctor who survived the Holocaust\, was using tourist visas that allowed entry into a Western country. Such visas were given under one particular condition. One child had to be left behind. This was the government’s way to ensure that citizens who left the country would return. \nGirl Left Behind is Judy Temes’s memoir\, a story in which she didn’t know why her family left her\, nor if she’d ever see them again. It’s a story of loss and trauma\, the horrors of political strife and the cost of immigration policies. It’s the story of what it means growing up without a sense of home until you define it yourself. \nJudy Temes is a Seattle-based teacher\, writer\, and journalist whose work has been published in The Boston Globe\, The Patriot Ledger\, and other publications. \nA livestream of this event will also be available.

Nicole Stellon O’Donnell is the author of three collections of poetry\, including the just-released\, Everything Never Comes Your Way. Her second book\, You Are No Longer in Trouble\, was the 2019 open submission winner of the Marie Alexander Series in Prose Poetry. Her writing has won an Alaska Literary Award\, a Boochever Fellowship\, and an Artist Fellowship from the Rasmuson Foundation. Her poems have appeared in Prairie Schooner\, Beloit Poetry Journal\, Zyzzyva\, Redivider\, and other literary journals.
