Reading Between the Line Breaks: A workshop with Ishion Hutchinson and Valzhyna MortDate: Oct 14th, 2018
Time: 9:00 am
Location: Red Hen Press
1540 Lincoln Ave.
Pasadena, CA 91103
This class is dedicated to witnessing the birth of meaning in a poetic text. Poetry is poetic form. What constitutes this form and how do we create it on the page? We will read poems in order to understand not what they mean, but how they are made. We will enter the world of dissonance and harmonized noise. We will discuss the relationships between words and the non-words of a poem. All this to one means: to experience a poetic word and to place it on our own page.
