It’s been a week since the protests in United States have started to demand justice for all the black lives lost to racist cops’ brutality. Everyone is and should be showing their support for Black Lives Matter by uplifting the voices of Black people. Though, as a non-Black POC, it’s easy to mistakenly or intentionally center everything around collective POC oppression, and that’s the worst we can do. This is the time to empower Black voices without shifting the spotlight to anywhere except on them.
As a book blogger, if there’s one pledge I can take to make this space—my blog—safe for the Black voices, it’s to promote, boost and READ works by Black authors. This list is the first of many I hope to put together in order to do the least as someone who creates content around books.
