Soapberry Review reviews E.P. Tuazon’s A PROFESSIONAL LOLA as one of the Best Asian American Books of 2024

“In A Professional Lola, a joyful, weird, and eclectic collection of short stories from Grace Paley award winner E.P. Tuazon, there is an intimacy that makes you, the reader, feel like a fly on the wall, observing life unfold. The title story, ‘Professional Lola,’ about a main character interacting with a grandma-for-hire at a family birthday party, is brilliant. ‘Carabao,’ another gem, flooded me with memories and impressed me with its layered observations on gender and generational trauma.

Write or Die Magazine interviews Didi Jackson, author of MY INFINITY

Didi Jackson: On Love Stories, Migraines, Being Ever-Present on the Page, and Her Poetry Collection, ‘My Infinity’

Nov 19

Written By Brittany Ackerman

Four months postpartum, I stood inside the home of Didi and Major Jackson for the annual MFA welcome gathering. I dipped a triangle of pita bread into a dollop of hummus on my plate and looked in awe around their gorgeous home. The house was just minutes away from campus, but it felt like I was somewhere other than Nashville. To be honest, it reminded me of the glamorous and chic homes I used to see in Los Angeles. There were plants and lots of light and oh my goodness so many curated shelves of books. Even the street where the house sat felt like it could be on Mount Washington, and not adjacent to the West End. In other words, the place felt magical.

Write or Die Magazine features Didi Jackson’s MY INFINITY

“In the beautifully rendered book of poems, My Infinity by Didi Jackson, the speaker’s voice is meditative, pensive, and warm. Tonally, these poems represent that time of day which is near dusk and twilight, when the day is mostly finished, but is scarred with too much knowledge. My Infinity grapples with the aftermath of a lover’s suicide, alongside new love and joy.”

International Armenian Literary Alliance includes Nancy Kricorian’s THE BURNING HEART OF THE WORLD in their 2024 Holiday Book Guide

Returning to the fabular tone of Zabelle, her popular first novel, Kricorian conjures up the lost worlds and intergenerational traumas that haunt a family in permanent exile. Leavened with humor and imbued with the timelessness of a folktale, The Burning Heart of the World is a sweeping saga that takes readers on an epic journey from the mountains of Cilicia to contemporary New York City.
