This very morning, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced the appointment of Red Hen author Eloise Klein Healy as the first official Poet Laureate of the City of Los Angeles! Eloise will serve a two-year term during which she will give public readings, visit schools, and compose a poem celebrating the city of Los Angeles. The mayor praised Eloise's "belief in the power of poetry, and her commitment to sharing this power far and wide." Congratulations, Eloise!
